Jack & Katie

Jack woke up to the rumble of his human, BT, coming downstairs for breakfast. This was a great time of day because he liked to eat with his boy. Nothing could ruin his happiness, well, except for pesky Aunt Katie, who was visiting. Jack could hear her wolfing softly from her sleeping cage.
“Keep it down in there, I’m trying to enjoy breakfast,” squeaked Jack. He knew Katie was trying to get all of the attention. It was bad enough that BT liked to take Aunt Katie on walks. He was Jack’s human, not hers. Aunt Katie grumbled something but Jack ignored her.
BT finished eating, put his shoes on and stopped by Jack’s cage with a plump grape. Jack snatched it with his sharp teeth and nibbled while his human pet him between the ears. Just as Jack was getting ready to tell him to scratch his back too, Mother yelled, “BUS!” and BT ran out the door.
“How lucky am I?” Jack’s face was full of mischief. His human forgot to shut his cage door.
Katie was set free and immediately ran to Jack’s cage to say good morning. When she pulled up close to his open door, Jack jumped onto her back and rode her like a wild bronco all around the kitchen until Mother noticed and screeched at the site. She put Jack back into his cage and locked the door with a twist-tie so that he couldn’t open it himself.
“Not the twist-tie!” said Jack with despair.
“Mother, it was all Katie’s fault. She grabbed me with her teeth and flung me onto her back,” pleaded Jack. It was frustrating that no matter how loud Jack spoke, his Humans couldn’t understand him.
It never failed, when Aunt Katie came to town Jack got in trouble.
I can’t wait to hear more about Jack and Aunt Katie. I hope you continue their story.
